This is the Forbidden City in Beijing.  Many years ago, it was against the law for most people to go inside.  The Emperor lived here.

This at the Guangdong Museum.  I liked the blue color.  It reminds me of an aquarium.

How does he do this without getting burned?  We saw this guy at a park called "Splendid China".  Many people in China are not Chinese. 

These are Chinese parasols hanging in a tree.  I thought that they were very pretty.  I have a parasol like this. 

This is me and my sister, Jenna.  We learned about these masks while we were in Beijing.  They wear them in the Chinese opera.  I liked the colors of this one.

These are dried starfish.  We saw then in a cool market that had all kinds of strange things--there were animals, and many dried things like this.  There even were live scorpions for sale.  We did not know why anyone would want to buy scorpions, but we heard that some people eat them.

This the Temple of Heaven in Beijing, the capital of China.   Many years ago the Emperor of China would pray here.

This is me in school--I have school in my bedroom and dining room.  My mom is my teacher.  I am drawing a picture in this picture. 

I got to ride a horse at the park where they had some ethnic Chinese villages.  I got to lope on the horse, which I had never done before.

These are girls in pretty dresses.  The Chinese think red means good luck.

Here my sister and I were pulling a grain grinder.  It was used to make flour.  It was heavy.

This is how they eat dinners in China.  There were some weird foods--bean curd, baby octopus, chicken, sweet beans, and stir- fried spinach.  I loved the fruit.  

First beginning

Welcome to my blog! I want to tell you some things about living in China.
Where we live, it's really hot and it rains a lot. We have to walk up 6 flights of stairs and there are only 7 flights, so we are almost at the top. I get tired and sweaty when I walk up the stairs!
We don't have an oven. We only have a hotplate with one burner, a microwave, a rice cooker, and we just bought a slow-cooker. Yesterday, my dad made banana bread in the rice cooker! It was good! We also have a tiny refrigerator and a very small clothes washer. We don't have a dryer, so we hang our clothes out on the balconies to get dry.
We have lots of neighbors by us. Sometimes they are loud. We have made a friend named Oscar. He lives on the same level as us, but in the building across from us. He is about 17 or 18 and he likes to come and talk to us. He is trying to teach us some Chinese.
I like living in China! Next time I will write about some things that I have done here.
As soon as my mom figures out how to do it, we will put on some pictures.
